Thabo Padi
Thabo Padi is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He obtained a B.Proc. from the University of Natal, a Diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice from RAU and a Certificate in Business Rescue from Unisa. He has extensive experience in Labour Law, Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Litigation (including arbitration) and various areas of law. He advises and represents, inter alia, government, state owned entities and companies.
Thabo attended a wide range of industry related courses including Chairing of Labour Disputes, Construction Regulations, Commercial Law Practice, Debt Counsellor Training, Project Finance, Engineering and Construction Law Course (FIDIC, NEC3 & GCC), Construction Delay Analysis Course among others.
In his practice as an attorney Thabo gained experience in, drafting and vetting of commercial agreements, engineering and construction law, insolvency law, company secretarial work, civil litigation, commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, labour law, ebt collection, procurement law, constitutional law, administrative law, banking law, mining law, due diligence, telecommunications law, media and entertainment law, child law, corporate governance, corporate law and internet law.
Thabo has assisted clients in, inter alia, investigations of misconduct, drafting of charge sheets, chairing disciplinary hearings, defending cases in Labour Court, advising on Labour Laws, drafting and vetting of development land availability and development agreements, acquisition and restructuring of companies, administrative law matters, constitutional law matters, engineering and construction law litigation, insolvency law related matters and other wide-ranging matters.
Labour Law Experience Thabo has advised clients on various aspects of labour law. He has experience in investigating misconduct, presenting cases on behalf of employers and chairing disciplinary enquiries and internal appeals. He has advised and represented clients in the CCMA, bargaining councils and the Labour Court. Thabo has also represented clients on issues such as strikes and collective bargaining.
He is also an insolvency practitioner and has been appointed on the panel of Trustees, Liquidators and Judicial Manager of the Master of the High Court, Pretoria and Mafikeng. I have an extensive experience in the administration of the insolvent estates and representing creditors in insolvency matters.
Thabo is the former Deputy President of the Executive Committee of the Platinum Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the executive committee of the Rustenburg Business Associations. Thabo is a member of the contract and commercial committee of the BRICS Legal Forum.

Ivan Jacobs
Ivan is a senior associate at the firm. He completed his articles with Deneys Reitz Attorneys in 2000. Thereafter, Ivan joined Mokoena Attorneys where he gained experience in magistrate and high court litigation. In 2006 Ivan joined the Legal Aid Board where he was ultimately appointed head of litigation. Between 2006 and 2009 Ivan was employed at Mohlala Attorneys as an associate where he was engaged mainly with the Road Accident Fund matters representing the Fund. From 2009 to 2012, Ivan was with Pule Incorporated. He practiced in the litigation department where he handled various litigation matters, including commercial and labour litigation
Between 2013 and end of 2014, Ivan was employed at Bessinger Attorneys as an associate. He was involved in magistrate and high court litigation and handled labour matters.
Ivan joined the firm in January 2015. He practices mainly in commercial law and litigation. He heads our Commercial litigation department.
He also specialises in commercial litigation, labour law and commercial debt recovery.
Sibusiso Khumalo
Sibusiso is a senior associate at the firm. Sibusiso completed his articles with Swanepoel and Partners and he was admitted as an attorney in 2013. He was then appointed as professional assistant at Swanepoel and Partners. His responsibilities included civil litigation, labour matters and commercial law work. Sibusiso then joined the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform as a legal advisor. He was responsible for advising the Department on land claims and disposal of immovable property.
Sibusiso joined Padi Incorporated in 2015 as an associate. He heads our labour law department. Sibusiso specialises in labour law, administrative law and litigation.
Sibusiso has represented clients in high profile labour matters, commercial litigation, negotiating and drafting of commercial contracts, constitutional law litigation and administrative law.
Nhlanhla banda is an associate in our firm. She joined our firm in 2014.
In her practice she has gained expensive experience in commercial litigation, constitutional litigation, administrative law,
procurement law, drafting of commercial contracts, consumer law, civil litigation, litigating on various aspects of property law,
chairing of disciplinary enquiries.
She specialises in commercial litigation, administrative law, municipality law, constitutional law and civil litigation. She has been involved in mega project litigation, drafting of commercial agreements, engineering and construction agreement including to concession agreements among others.
Nhlanhla has represented several municipalities, government departments and major state-owned companies.
Shenay Lotteringis an associate in our firm. She joined our firm in 2013
Shenay specialises in general commercial law, negotiating and structuring of various commercial transactions and drafting different kinds of commercial agreements including concession agreements, development agreements, sale of share agreements, shareholders agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
Shenay has assisted clients on all aspects of corporate law, including the establishment of different business entities as well as attending to statutory changes to the Companies Act, director’s duties and shareholder disputes. She also assist with company secretarial functions.
Shenay is experienced in advising clients on various housing matters related to National Housing Act, Housing Code, PIE and ESTA and has also overseen the implementation and application of the Housing Code.
Shenay has represented clients in numerous personal injury and medical negligence matters in both High Court and the Magistrate’s Court.
Shenay has also acted for, JSE listed companies, municipalities, private individuals and state owned entities.
Modjadji Nkwane-Mamabolo
Modjadji was admitted as an attorney in 2004. She is also an admitted notary and conveyancer.
Modjadji specialises in mega projects transfers and township establishment. She is responsible for the establishment of numerous townships and she registered thousands of government subsidised properties.
Modjadji has extensive experience in registering of and advising on notarial deeds.
